WINTER with LAUREN O'BRIEN

Some work I did with a lovely Irish model in Brussels. I'm forever amazed at her beauty - it's as if her DNA is lined up flawlessly.

It's getting quite cold outside in Belgium - the beginning of winter has brought a cloud that blankets the region in grey most of the time, and puddles are starting to break like glass. No snow yet, just sharp wind and freezing rain. I try to force myself outside as much as I can, even though I'd rather stay inside with some tea and a book. Though the weather can be harsh and uncomfortable, taking my cameras out is letting me enjoy my last few weeks on this beautiful continent. It's been the quickest five months of my life, and certainly the most educational, inspiring, and touching experiences I'll ever have. I know this city like home now, and I feel so powerful knowing that I can come back and know my way around. I'm excited to get back to Atlanta, see friends, and enjoy a nicer climate where the sun isn't always hiding, but it will be difficult to leave Europe without knowing when I'll be back. But I know that time will come. I'm connected to the earth here, and even though my blood is in more than one city, Brussels is forever dear to my heart.
